Massachussetts Glaucoma Machines for Optometrists

About Our Service

Our Goal and Procedure

Mobile Glaucoma | Diagnostics MachineThe goal of MGD (Mobile Glaucoma Diagnostics) is to offer the GDxVCC instrument to Optometrists’ offices with a trained technician for daily rental use. This allows our fellow Optometrists the use of state-of-the-art glaucoma technology without the need of a large overhead expense. We have now scanned over 5,000 patients to date!

Each patient can be scanned in only 10-15 minutes. We can suggest scheduling 4 patients per hour. We would ask for a minimum number of patients (dependent upon your location) and up to a maximum of 30 patients for each scheduled visit to your office. Many doctors choose to schedule each patient for a short 99213 visit immediately following each scan. If this is not possible the short visit can be performed on another day.

We only require a tabletop, electrical supply, and a schedule from your office. There is no need to dilate pupils and the test can be performed in ambient light. Testing allows for fast diagnosis and a color printout in just minutes. We will supply forms, billing examples, and interpretation training.

The GDx VCC scans can be billed for all glaucoma suspects and glaucoma patients in a similar fashion as visual fields. Presently most insurances are reimbursing optometrists for the 92133 scan code including Tufts/Eyemed. Most insurance carriers allow for one scan per year. You can choose to schedule each patient for a short 99213 visit immediately following each scan. If this is not possible the short visit can be performed on another day.
